What We Are Looking For

NextCare Urgent Care is seeking an energetic and enthusiastic Medical Assistant who enjoys a fast-paced environment and works well in a team. Candidates should be customer-friendly and passionate about providing excellent care.

Responsibilities

  • Assists providers with exams (including patient vitals), procedures, and other direct patient care tasks under direct supervision.
  • Administers medications according to policy and provider direction, adhering to safety protocols.
  • Performs blood draws and urine collection for various tests, including employer drug screens.
  • Conducts splinting and casting as needed.
  • Performs various types of physicals, such as sports physicals.
  • Carries out other urgent care-related duties like ear lavage, wound care, and oxygen administration.
  • Notifies the on-duty provider promptly of any unusual patient occurrences, including medication events, and documents these on incident reports.
  • Notifies the Clinic Manager of patient or employee safety concerns immediately.
  • Follows laboratory and clinical accreditation policies.
  • Proficient in using Electronic Medical Records (EMR)/Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed by company policy.
  • Supports the front office by keeping patients informed of wait times, monitoring patient flow, processing discharges, preparing charges, collecting payments, obtaining signatures, and issuing receipts.

Essential Education, Experience & Skills

  • Arizona: High school diploma or equivalent; completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program; and passed a national certification exam through AAMA, AMT, or NHA.
  • Other states: High school diploma or equivalent; completed an approved (accredited) Medical Assistant training program; and passed a national certification exam through AAMA, AMT, or NHA.
  • OR: Unapproved (non-accredited) Medical Assistant training program; at least one year of employment as a Medical Assistant after program completion; or at least 2000 hours of supervised work experience under a Provider or Physician Group.
