About the Role
Under the direction of the appropriate manager (Director, Practice Administrator, Operations Manager, or Office Manager), you will supervise and coordinate day-to-day clinic activities and personnel issues for back office staff in an ambulatory setting. You will act as a liaison with staff, departments, practices, and patients.
Responsibilities
- Performs all Medical Assistant functions.
- Participates as an active care team member in coordinating patient care.
- Implements and provides clinical support aligned with planned activities of the ambulatory setting to ensure adequate support for medical providers.
- Assists with personnel and payroll functions for assigned staff, including hiring, training, and continuous coaching and feedback on performance.
- Ensures appropriate budgetary standards for labor and supply monitoring.
- Ensures compliance with regulatory and organizational policies and procedures for clinical staff; recommends changes as needed.
- Participates in regulatory and proficiency checks for quality management and accreditation requirements.
- Implements and monitors processes for testing result maintenance of all tests and referrals made to other departments for physician staff.
- Maintains a high level of customer service in the back office for patients, physicians, and interdepartmental contacts, both in person and by telephone.
- Participates in performance improvement projects.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 2 years of experience in a physician office.
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience in the same or similar specialty.
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) required at time of hire.
- Registered Medical Assistant (Nationally Certified) preferred at time of hire.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required at time of hire (American Red Cross or American Heart Association).
- Up to 10% travel may be required.
- Supervises 1-10 Medical Assistants.
