MEDICAL ASSISTANT, SPN ORTHOPEDICS

Position Summary

Aid the APRN and physician in preparing patients for examinations. Provide patient care including procedures. Accurately document patient information in the electronic medical record. Perform administrative tasks such as scheduling and precertification for surgeries. May perform phlebotomy without waived testing.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• High School Graduate or equivalent preferred
• Certified Medical Assistant or Registered Medical Assistant certification preferred
• One-year experience in clinical area preferred
• Current CPR certification
• General office skills and medical terminology preferred

Working Conditions

• Works in a medical office setting
• Requires moderate to frequent lifting (over 50 lbs.), bending, and assisting in same, using correct techniques
• Must operate office equipment, computer terminals, keyboards, and computerized lab equipment
• Exposure to blood, body fluids, and infectious diseases
• Extensive walking during shift
