About the role

The Mass General Brigham Medical Group is a system-led operating entity within Mass General Brigham, dedicated to delivering high-quality, low-cost, innovative community-based ambulatory care. This role supports healthcare teams by assisting with both clinical and non-clinical patient services under the direction of healthcare providers.

Responsibilities

• Takes vital signs, documents patient information, schedules appointments, and manages patient flow.
• Interviews patients to obtain medical information, measures vital signs, weight, and height, and records information in the patient's medical record.
• Explains treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physician instructions to patients, ordering and organizing educational materials to reinforce patient education.
• Performs general office duties, such as answering phones, taking dictation, and completing insurance forms, while acting as a liaison with other departments and advocating for patients with a positive customer service approach.
• Collects blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, logs them, and prepares them for testing; performs phlebotomy if competence is demonstrated.
• Maintains inventory of immunizations and checks expiration dates.
• Provides immunizations (as applicable) which requires certification or 3 years of experience administering a vaccine and supervision of a provider.
• Improves appropriate departmental quality initiatives, such as two patient identifiers and hand hygiene.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting preferred.
• Direct MA experience or medical field work 1-2 years required.
• Basic Life Support [BLS Certification] preferred.
• Certified Medical Assistant [National Certification] preferred.

Additional Job Details

• Full-time, 40-hour position working Monday through Friday with five 8-hour shifts scheduled between 8:00am and 5:00pm.
• Opportunity to provide direct patient care in a collaborative clinical setting.
• Optional weekend shifts available for additional hours in the walk-in clinic.
• Onsite work location at 7 Marsh Brook Drive, Somersworth, NH 03878.
• Base pay range: $17.71 - $24.94/Hourly Grade 3.
