Medical Assistant, Orthopedics

About the role

This position is responsible for delivering a range of outpatient care services and supporting clinical workflows to ensure efficient and high-quality patient experiences. Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing patients for clinic visits by completing intake documentation, recording vital signs, measuring height and weight, and rooming patients.
• Aiding with examinations, treatments and procedures.
• Collecting laboratory specimens and performing point-of-care testing.
• Administering designated immunization/vaccines and medications under physician delegation.

Responsibilities

In addition to clinical duties, this role may also support administrative functions, including:

• Patient registration, appointment scheduling, and financial transactions.
• Managing insurance authorizations and referral processes for assigned clinics.
• Collecting payments and conducting insurance screenings to determine the need for financial counseling.

Responsibilities ALL MEDICAL ACTS PERFORMED BY A MEDICAL ASSISTANT ARE PURSUANT TO DELEGATION BY AND UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A PHYSICIAN. THE DELEGATING PHYSICIAN REMAINS RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MEDICAL ACTS OF THE MEDICAL ASSISTANT PERFORMING THOSE ACTS.

Requirements

• Less than 1 year Medical Assistants hired before 4/1/2026 must have a minimum 6 months experience in a patient care setting or completion of MA program.
• Effective 4/1/2026, 6 months experience in a patient care setting preferred for new employees.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Required Effective 4/1/2026, new employees must have graduated from an accredited Medical Assistant program.
• Required LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS Effective April 1, 2026, new employees must have one of the following Medical Assistant Certifications (MAC): Nat Cert Med Asst (NCMA) from NCCT, Cert Med Asst (CMA) from AAMAC, Cert Cln Med Asst (CCMA) from NHA, Reg Med Asst (RMA) from AMT, AAMP or AAHNat Reg Cert Med Asst (NRCMA) from NAHP, Cln Med Asst Cert (CMAC) from AMCA.
• 180 Days Required Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers as required by CP 1.20 Life Support Course Requirements 60 Days, Required.
