Medical Assistant Program Instructor (Part-Time)

About the Role

This is a part-time instructional position based at our Hazleton Center, focused on guiding, supervising, and instructing students in the Medical Assistant Program. The role involves directing student learning, assessing progress, and ensuring the curriculum meets current performance standards.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive course and classroom instruction within specified program areas, following the College-developed curriculum.
• Create a conducive learning environment and utilize varied instructional delivery methods to improve student outcomes.
• Teach, advise, and represent the school professionally with students, staff, and the community.
• Develop and present lesson plans according to the provided curriculum.
• Demonstrate psychomotor and affective competencies accurately, adhering to curriculum and industry standards.
• Perform written and hands-on assessments, including chapter examinations and skill/competency evaluations across cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domains.
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, competency assessments, and overall performance.
• Monitor student progress, make referrals as needed, and provide grade/attendance records to the Program or Center Director.
• Assist with student orientation and maintain an updated inventory of program supplies and equipment.
• Report broken or malfunctioning equipment to the Program or Center Director.
• Maintain a stable, engaging classroom environment in accordance with school and program guidelines.
• Ensure compliance with school and program policies, reporting violations as necessary.
• Contribute to program quality assurance and share updates on national/industry standards with the Program Director.
• Maintain continuing education units (CEUs) and keep personal certifications current.
• Set up students with web-based accounts, train them on navigation, and assist with national certification exam registration.
• Administer national certification exams.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of a Medical Assistant program and credentialed in good standing by an NCCA- or ANSI-accredited organization (e.g., CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), NCMA (NCCT), CCMA (NHA), CMAC (AMCA)) with certification dates as specified.
• Alternatively, current and in good standing in another healthcare-related field with verifiable experience as outlined below.
• Instruction in educational theory and techniques, demonstrated through college courses, seminars, or in-service sessions on learning theory, curriculum design, teaching methodology, or assessment techniques.
• Minimum of three years of employment in a healthcare facility, including at least 160 hours in an ambulatory setting performing or observing administrative and clinical procedures.
• Knowledge of Phlebotomy and ECG procedures.
• Competency in the MAERB Core Curriculum objectives for assigned teaching areas, evidenced by education and/or experience.
• Minimum of one year of teaching experience in postsecondary and/or vocational/technical education (preferred).
• Copies of certifications are required.
