Position Summary

Are you an experienced Medical Assistant with a talent for teaching and a desire to grow your leadership skills? This is your chance to take the next step in your career! Pima Medical Institute is seeking a Medical Assistant Instructor to join our Seattle campus faculty on a convenient part-time evening schedule (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6:00 PM – 10:00 PM). In this role, you will lead classroom lectures, facilitate hands-on clinical lab demonstrations, and mentor future healthcare professionals as they build the core competencies needed for career success.

Key Responsibilities

Instructional Delivery & Student Mentorship:

  • Lesson Execution: Deliver lesson plans across program modules using varied teaching techniques that engage different learning styles.
  • Objective Planning: Plan instruction to achieve specific learning outcomes based on student needs and established curriculum standards.
  • Classroom & Lab Leadership: Lead lectures, demonstrate clinical procedures (phlebotomy, vitals, EKGs, injections), and supervise practical skill labs while enforcing safety, OSHA, and biohazard standards.

Academic Administration & Student Support:

  • Evaluation & Grading: Assess and grade student coursework, clinical check-offs, and assignments within 72 hours.
  • Student Advising: Maintain scheduled office hours to advise students, provide academic support, and alert campus leadership (Assistant Dean of Faculty / Student Services) regarding early alerts or student progress needs.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate attendance records, grade logs, and required student file documentation per institutional policies.

Departmental & Program Operations:

  • Enrichment: Coordinate guest speakers, community field trips, and medical office visits.
  • Faculty Engagement: Participate in faculty meetings, advisory board sessions, in-service workshops, and campus graduations.
  • Externships: May assist with student externship supervision and placement oversight.

Minimum Requirements

Education & Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program recognized by USDE or CHEA (or equivalent recognized foreign/hospital-based entity) AND three (3) years of full-time occupational experience as a Medical Assistant.
  • A minimum of three (3) years of job-related training and experience for non-accredited program graduates.
  • National Certification: Current, unencumbered national registration or certification through an accredited agency (e.g., CMA, RMA).
  • Licensure: Active Washington Medical Assistant Certified (MA-C) credential or license as required by state law.
  • Technical Skills: Functional knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), video conferencing tools, and general digital tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior classroom or clinical teaching/mentoring experience.
