Medical Assistant - PRN - Orthopedics - Florence

Responsibilities

• Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
• Executes direct patient care, including but not limited to triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge, and follow-up instructions.
• Prepares patients for visits with the provider.
• Collects and documents pertinent information through communication with patients and family, including vital signs, history, and chief complaints.
• Prepares and documents charts, scans necessary documents, and performs specialized tests as needed.
• Administers medications and assists with treatments and procedures as directed.
• Schedules testing and referral appointments for patients as instructed by the provider.
• Communicates with patients via phone, addressing their issues or referring them to the physician.
• Follows up with patients as necessary.
• Cleans and straightens examination rooms, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, and maintains medical supplies and equipment.
• Encourages patients to use MyChart for communication with McLeod Health.

Qualifications

• Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
