Medical Assistant - PRN - Orthopedics - Florence
Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to the physician in assessing patient needs.
- Carries out direct patient care, including triage, assessment, procedures, treatments, patient education, discharge, and follow-up instructions.
- Prepares patients for visits with the provider.
- Collects and documents pertinent information through communication with patients and family, including vital signs, history, and chief complaints.
- Prepares and documents charts, scans necessary documents in the patient’s medical record, and performs specialized tests as needed.
- Administers medications as directed by the physician and assists with treatments and procedures.
- Schedules testing and referral appointments for patients as instructed by the provider.
- Communicates with patients via phone, addressing their concerns or referring them to the physician as necessary.
- Follows up with patients as required.
- Cleans and straightens examination rooms, ensuring compliance with OSHA standards, and maintains medical supplies and equipment.
- Enables patients to sign up for MyChart and encourages their use as a primary means of communication with McLeod Health.
- Displays proficiency in promoting a learning environment, participating in quality improvement projects, and projecting a positive image for the practice.
Qualifications
- Basic Life Support certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
