Medical Assistant - Primary Care Float

About the role

Support patient care and clinic operations by assisting in the examination and treatment of patients under physician supervision. Maintain patient flow, document medical histories, vital signs, medication updates, and review systems.

Responsibilities

• Accurately record information in the electronic medical record (EMR) and prepare patient charts for visits.
• Refill medications, obtain prior authorizations, and manage medication samples and disposals.
• Prepare exam rooms, order supplies, and ensure a clean, organized environment.
• Collect medical information, respond to patient communications, and manage work queues in EMR.
• Operate diagnostic equipment such as EKGs, perform phlebotomy, cast removal, and other clinical tasks.
• Answer calls, schedule appointments, check patients in/out, and handle pre-certifications.
• Follow safety standards, maintain confidentiality, and comply with legal and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; Associate Degree or certification preferred.
• 2-5 years of relevant experience, including diverse clinical settings.
• Proficient in computer skills, EMR systems, and scheduling software.
• Strong interpersonal skills for patient and team interactions.
• Clinical skills such as phlebotomy, EKGs, sutures, and splinting are highly preferred.
• Certified/Registered Medical Assistant preferred; BLS certification required.
