Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist (Weekends)
About the role
The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist position is available at Shady Grove Fertility in Towson, Maryland. The schedule is every other Saturday and Sunday, from 6:30 AM until shift ends, which can range from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Compensation is $20 to $23 per hour, commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities
- Perform high volume of phlebotomy
- Maintain supplies for the blood drawing stations
- Aid in the clinical care of fertility patients
- Ensure lab specimens are sent to proper labs
- Provide patient/couple counseling, procedure teaching, communicate physician orders and instructions
- Perform semen washes and set up for IUIs
- Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance
- Utilize the computer in entering labs and printing labels
- Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and patients' families
- Support and promote excellence in customer service
Qualifications and Skills
- Strong phlebotomy skills required
- High School diploma, completion of a formal MA program preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
- Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to follow-through, and high degree of comfort with computer applications, accuracy and speed with data entry is required
- Minimum of one year of prior experience in healthcare and familiarity with medical terminology

Pay
