Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist (Weekends)

About the role

The Medical Assistant/Phlebotomist position is available at Shady Grove Fertility in Towson, MD. The schedule is every other Saturday and Sunday from 6:30 AM to 12:00 PM or 2:00 PM, depending on the shift.

Responsibilities

• Perform high volume of phlebotomy
• Maintain supplies for the blood drawing stations
• Aid in the clinical care of fertility patients
• Ensure lab specimens are sent to proper labs
• Provide patient/couple counseling, procedure teaching, communicate physician orders and instructions
• Provide pre and post op education
• Perform semen washes and set up for IUIs
• Take vital signs and provide general clinical assistance
• Utilize the computer in entering labs and printing labels
• Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and patients' families
• Work independently to achieve program goals
• Support and promote excellence in customer service

Qualifications and Skills

• Strong phlebotomy skills required
• High School diploma, completion of a formal MA program preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication, interpersonal and customer service skills
• Ability to work autonomously and in a team environment
• Strong attention to detail, demonstrated ability to follow-through, and high degree of comfort with computer applications, accuracy and speed with data entry is required
• Minimum of one year of prior experience in healthcare and familiarity with medical terminology
