Medical Assistant - Per Diem - Cardiology - 139595

About the role

This position supports multi-specialty clinics with a focus on Cardiology and Stroke. Under the direction of the clinic manager, providers, and licensed nursing staff, the Medical Assistant performs patient care duties requiring specialized knowledge and training.

Responsibilities

• Rooming patients, obtaining vital signs, and completing medication reconciliation.
• Assisting with patient check-out after appointments.
• Scheduling patient appointments.
• Managing equipment and supplies.
• Cleaning and disinfecting clinical environments.
• Reviewing charts and collaborating with licensed staff to communicate with patients.
• Applying and registering cardiac event monitors.
• Performing 12-lead EKG's.
• Assisting with patient wheelchair transport.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications: Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program. BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date. Recent experience as a medical assistant. Demonstrated medical terminology. Demonstrates initiative and strong prioritization skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Exceptional customer service skills are essential.
• Prior to employment, must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs, and work at all cardiology clinic locations including La Jolla, Banker’s Hill, Medical Offices South, and Encinitas. Must be able to pass a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Preferred Qualifications

• Cardiology clinic experience.
• EPIC ambulatory experience.
• Experience performing 12 lead EKG.
