Responsibilities
- Affords assistance to providers during patient examinations, procedures, and treatments.
- Collects and reviews patient histories, performs routine laboratory procedures, and prepares specimens for laboratory transport.
- Follows up on test orders and communicates results to both the provider and the patient, offering and maintaining educational resources for patients.
- Maintains and operates medical equipment, and orders necessary clinical supplies.
- Updates and manages patient electronic medical records (EMRs).
- Ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) regulations.
- Performs other tasks as directed.
Requirements
- Approved Medical Assistant Certification within six months of employment or proof of active license/certification.
- Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT), Paramedic, or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) certification.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of medical assistant experience preferred.
