Responsibilities

As a Medical Assistant/LPN, you’ll play a vital role in the care team – supporting providers, connecting with patients, and helping ensure a seamless, compassionate experience every day. As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

• Welcome patients and support their transition into care.
• Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.
• Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.
• Administer medications and vaccines as directed.
• Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.
• Document care accurately in the electronic health record.
• Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

Requirements

The following are required for this role:

• MA: Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
• Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license issued by the state in which the team member practices
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) needs to be obtained within 45 days unless department leader has determined it is not required.
• GED or HS Equivalency Diploma.
• MA: Completion of an accredited or approved program in Medical Assistant, or 2 years of verifiable full-time experience as a Medical Assistant within the last 5 years.
• LPN: Advanced training beyond High School that includes the completion of an accredited or approved program in Practical Nursing

Qualifications

This role is based at the Aurora Breast Surgery Clinic – West Allis, a specialty outpatient clinic focused on breast health and cancer care, providing evaluation, surgical treatment, and post-operative follow-up. The clinic operates in a multidisciplinary setting, working closely with oncology and imaging teams, and emphasizes compassionate, patient-centered care with a strong focus on education, coordination, and supporting patients through sensitive diagnoses and treatments.

Skills

The following skills are necessary for this role:

• Ability to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.
• Ability to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.
• Ability to push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.
• Functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.
• Ability to maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.
• Ability to perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.

Pay

Pay Structure: For Medical Assistants the pay starts between $22-23/hr. For LPN the pay starts between $24.50-25.50/hr. Pay is determined by experience and qualifications of the position. Leaders may be willing to offer more with prior direct experience in the role.

Schedule

Schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am until 4:30pm. Primary location is West Allis Mondays (1st, 3rd, 5th of the month in the PM), and Fridays Secondary location Mondays (2nd and 4th of the month), Tuesdays, Wednesday, and Thursdays
