This position is a 100% (40 hours per week) role located at the UICC Coralville Oakdale Clinic, primarily supporting Family Medicine Clinics with the possibility to float to other specialties or locations such as Pediatrics and Specialty/Outreach Clinics.

About the Role

Under direct supervision of a licensed independent practitioner (LIP), registered nurse (RN), nurse manager (NM), or assistant nurse manager (ANM), this role functions as a member of the patient care team. The Medical Assistant II performs technical, patient care, and related clerical functions in an ambulatory or urgent care setting, coordinating all elements of the patient visit. Duties may involve the use of electronic word/data processing equipment and conventional office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Support Family Medicine Clinic patients under the direct supervision of a physician, physician assistant, nurse practitioner, or registered nurse.
  • Perform technical and patient care functions in an ambulatory setting.

Requirements

  • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant, or completion of a recognized one-year Medical Assistant Program, or completion of a health care profession program with a curriculum incorporating elements of a Medical Assistant program, including but not limited to: pathophysiology, medical terminology, basic pharmacology and medication administration (including dose calculation), and psychology.
  • Valid driver’s license and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Highly Desired Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate teamwork and autonomy in all aspects of the role.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills.
  • Previous EPIC experience.
  • Minimum of 6 months ambulatory experience.
  • Previous immunization and phlebotomy experience.

Staff may be required to receive a passing score on work samples to be considered for this position.

Schedule

Variable hours Monday through Friday between 7:30 AM and 5:00 PM. No weekends, on-call time, or holidays required.

Pay

Salary range: $41,718.24 – $61,971.84 (at 100% time, based on years of experience). Pay Grade: 9.
