About the role

Provides clinical and clerical support to providers and members of the patient care team(s) by performing a variety of back office and patient-related tasks supporting the delivery of high-quality patient care. Helps ensure smooth patient and workflow within the department and assists the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care. Integrates education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills to gain confidence and cooperation from the patient, their family/support group, and other healthcare providers. Performs all duties under the direction of a clinician.

Employees of Sutter Health and its entities may handle hazardous drugs in the course of their work, including patient care, which requires them to manage, store, prepare, receive, unpack, transport, dispose of, or administer drugs identified as hazardous or potentially hazardous by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and in accordance with the USP 800 guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of back office and patient-related tasks to support high-quality patient care
  • Assist in ensuring smooth patient and workflow within the department
  • Support the patient care team in implementing the medical plan of care
  • Integrate education, technical competence, and patient interaction skills
  • Handle hazardous drugs as required by NIOSH and USP 800 guidelines

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  • Completion of a course of study consistent with the requirements for Medical Assistants as specified by the Medical Board of California (Must present diploma within 90 days)
  • OR Completion of Sutter Health on-the-job training in medical assisting equivalent to one year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification
  • 1 year of recent relevant experience

Pay

Pay Range is $30.60 to $42.84 per hour. The compensation range may vary based on the geographic location where the position is filled. Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate’s experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.

Schedule

  • Per Diem/Casual
  • Shift: Days, 8 hours per shift
  • Variable days of the week, including weekends (Saturday)
  • Weekly Hours: 0
