Medical Assistant Float

About the Role

The Medical Assistant Float assists physicians with patient assessment, examination, and treatment. This role involves managing patient flow, performing diagnostic procedures such as EKGs, phlebotomy, injections, and vitals, and acting as a liaison to ensure patient satisfaction. As a Float resource, the incumbent regularly works at 5+ different locations within their assigned area.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients to exam rooms and ensure proper identification.
• Perform and document vital signs, clinical care quality measures, and medical history information.
• Maintain proficiency and knowledge of information technology systems and documentation requirements within established scope of practice.
• Assist physicians with examinations and diagnostic procedures, including performing EKGs and venipuncture/injections.
• Adhere to HIPAA privacy and security requirements.
• Order clinical supplies to maintain inventory and facilitate smooth office operations.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Medical Assistant Certification must be obtained within 6 months of hire.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association must be obtained within 90 days of hire (BLS through the American Red Cross may be acceptable at some Pennsylvania practice locations).
• Experience in a physician office or other healthcare setting preferred.
• For NJ Only: Graduate of an accredited post-secondary medical assisting education program which includes, at a minimum, 330 hours of instruction and encompasses training in the administration of intramuscular and subcutaneous injections.
• For internal Einstein applicants only: Medical Assistant certification is not required if currently employed in a Medical Assistant role with a hire date prior to 7/1/2024 when transferring within Einstein entities.

Skills

Physical Demands

• May be required to perform activities specific to the role, including kneeling, bending, squatting, and performing CPR.
