About the role
Nest Health is a healthcare startup founded in 2022 by Dr. Rebekah Gee and Rebecca Kavoussi. The company provides comprehensive medical, behavioral, and social care in the home setting, including primary care, mental health support, vaccinations, labs, and social services.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct patient care and support in the home setting, performing tasks under the direction of the licensed provider such as taking vital signs, updating patient history, collecting lab specimens, and assisting with exams.
- Administer oral, topical, and injectable medications and/or vaccinations.
- Interview patients and record medical history, including standardized screening questionnaires.
- Absorb and assist with procedures using aseptic techniques.
- Adhere to infection control standards, including hand hygiene, use of PPE, and isolation of patients with known infectious diseases.
- Complete accurate EMR documentation of patient information and services provided according to Nest Health requirements.
- Demonstrate effective teamwork, communication, and collaboration as part of an interdisciplinary care team.
- Assist in patient registration, administrative workflows, and prior authorization approvals.
- Fulfill clerical responsibilities such as sending/receiving/scanning medical records, obtaining diagnostic reports, hospital notes & referral information, completing forms/requisitions, managing the charting process & sending specimens to labs.
- Actively participate in compliance-related matters, including equipment, laboratory tests, medications, and vaccine inventory.
- Provide information and assistance through advocacy, navigation support, and education to Nest families on available and eligible health and social care services. Follow up with families to ensure they accessed the resources provided/suggested by Nest.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to proactively contact families and ensure they are connected to the providers, resources, support they need to meet their family health goals.
- Participate in outreach efforts to Nest families, including explaining program details to potential families.
Requirements
- Successful completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
- Fluency in English.
- High School Diploma or equivalent, with 1-3 years of relevant experience.
- US work authorization.
- Vital Signs and phlebotomy experience: 1 year.
- EMR Systems experience: 1 year.
- Active BLS certification.
- Experience in counseling, community work, or community health activities in a government agency or community-based organization engaged in providing services to the public, assisting members of the community in obtaining services is a plus.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to interact with multiple constituencies and exercise “people skills.”
- Professionalism, including appearance, presentation, and demeanor.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to comply with all the terms of the Nest Motor Vehicle Safety Policy.
- Please note, this position will involve educating and encouraging vaccination against COVID-19.
Physical Requirements
- This is a mobile job that involves providing service in family homes.
- Must have a driver’s license, a car (mileage is reimbursed), auto insurance, and the ability to drive to the homes of Nest families and carry portable healthcare supplies.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift to 25 pounds at times (medical equipment).
