About the Role
The Medical Assistant Coordinator will serve as the lead for all Medical Assistants, who act as liaisons for the individuals we serve. The coordinator and team will handle support tasks including Patient Assistance Program applications, pharmacy coordination, patient portal communication, medication prior authorizations, and assisting the Outpatient Nurse Manager.
Responsibilities
- Directly supervise a team of Medical Assistants in Outpatient Clinics, providing supervision, training, and consultation.
- Assist individuals with completing Patient Assistance Program applications for medications and coordinate with Genoa Pharmacy for dispensing.
- Electronically send and receive records to/from individuals' primary care providers (PCPs) and document all contacts/attempted contacts within the EHR.
- Upload individuals' lab results into the EHR, ensuring results are shared with clinic nurses, NPs, or MDs, and send results to individuals via mail or patient portal.
- Send health communications to individuals via the patient portal and respond to their questions or inquiries.
- Complete medication prior authorizations or patient assistance applications as requested by doctors or NPs.
- Return phone calls to individuals daily regarding questions or problems about medications, lab results, etc.
- Assist the Outpatient Nurse Manager with tasks such as managing medical supplies, completing reviews/audits, and other duties as assigned.
