Responsibilities
- Accompanying patients to exam rooms
- Preparing patients for exams
- Performing and documenting vital signs
- Assisting with procedures
- Preparing and administering medications with physician’s authorization
- Performing EKGs
- Using CPR skills when required
- Drawing blood
- Providing patient education with regards to office policies, medication, and management of disease, home treatments, and special diets
- Stocking exam rooms
- Cleaning rooms
- Cleaning instruments
- Disposing of biohazard waste according to OSHA standards
- Performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation at all times
- Adhering to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- At least 1 year of related customer facing experience
- Preferred healthcare experience
- Preferred skills and abilities including computer knowledge, interpersonal skills, accuracy, attention to detail, independence, phlebotomy skills and experience
- Licenses and Certifications: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant - National Healthcareer Association, Certified Medical Assistant - American Association of Medical Assistants, Medical Assistant - American Medical Technologist, National Certified Medical Assistant - National Center for Competency Testing
- Basic Life Support Certified - American Heart Association
