POSITION SUMMARY
Pay range: $24.02/hr - $33.37/hr plus 5% MA certification differential if applicable
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Schedules patient appointments using EMR and within provider guidelines.
- Checks in patients to include gathering patient information, entering into computer, handling insurance information and collecting co-pays appropriately.
- Checks out patients to include addressing any additional patient concerns or needs.
- Obtains prior medical records and studies if appropriate.
- Documents data (i.e. vital signs, weights) on patient charts to communicate with team members.
- Responds to correspondence as appropriate, by telephone and/or in writing.
- Maintains organized work area.
- Sends copies of chart notes to primary care physicians as needed.
- Auxiliary duties include assisting patients to exam rooms, contacting patients with lab and x-ray results, obtaining specimens and performing laboratory work, preparing exam rooms, assisting the physician with sterile, wound management, and in-office procedures, performing injections, venipuncture, EKG, keeping exam rooms orderly and clean between patients, preparing exam room/minor surgery for procedures, performing sterile processing of instruments, performing opening and closing procedures in a timely, accurate and efficient manner, communicating information to patients according to protocols, providing patient education as appropriate to situation, promoting accident prevention and reporting potential hazards to maintain a safe environment, reviewing/ updating patient medications, initiating Delegated Protocols as appropriate, performing or assisting with procedures specific to the clinic, performing limited x-ray (certification required), training and mentoring Clinical Assistants.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- Education: Required High school graduate or GED. Completion of a MA/EMT program or 1 year of experience required.
- Experience: Required One (1) year experience working in an ambulatory clinic performing or assisting with provider ordered procedures unique to each clinic. Completion of a MA/EMT program or 1 year of experience required. Preferred Experience using EMR.
- Licenses, Certifications and/or Registrations: Current Healthcare provider BLS certification or within 90 days of hire. Preferred MA or EMT certification preferred
