Medical and Psychological Consultant (Part-Time Contractors)

Position Summary

The disability determination process requires consultation services from qualified doctors of medicine or osteopathy, psychiatrists, and clinical psychologists, hereinafter referred to variously as Consultants, on an ongoing basis in order to complete the disability determination function.

DDB consultants review chart notes and other documentation as part of the disability process and provide expert advice to examiner staff. Consultants do not have any direct patient contact.

Job Details

All applicants who are appointed to this position will be required to go through a complete federal background investigation. A suitability determination by the Social Security Administration is necessary to determine whether an employee can be issued credentials in order to have access to Social Security disability data, records, and systems.

Qualifications

• Minimally qualified applicants will have the following:
• Must hold an unrestricted license in the State of Wisconsin as one of the following: Medical Doctor or Doctor of Osteopathy (Liability Insurance may be required)
• A Psychologist must:
• be licensed or certified as a psychologist at the independent practice level of psychology by the State in which he or she practices;
• either possess a doctorate degree in psychology from a program in clinical psychology of an educational institution accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, formerly the Council on Post-Secondary Accreditation;
• be listed in the National Register of Health Service Psychologists which the Commissioner Of Social Security deems appropriate;
• possess two years of supervised clinical experience as a psychologist in health service, at least one year of which is post master’s degree
• Well-qualified applicants will also have the following:
• Specialties in Pediatrics and/or Respiratory/Cardiac fields.

Salary Information

The starting hourly pay for licensed medical doctors/physicians is up to $86.56/hour and up to $60.53/hour for psychologists for the first year depending on an applicant’s qualifications.
