About the role
The Medicaid Reentry Program Coordinator supports the coordination and administration of services associated with Washington’s Medicaid 1115 Reentry Waiver for justice-involved individuals. This role ensures required pre-release healthcare services, documentation, and coordination activities are completed to support continuity of care and compliance with program requirements.
Responsibilities
- Cook up activities related to Washington’s Medicaid 1115 Reentry Waiver program within the correctional healthcare setting.
- Track individuals eligible for reentry services and support coordination of required pre-release healthcare services.
- Collaborate with clinical staff, care managers, and facility personnel to ensure required waiver services are delivered and documented appropriately.
- Cook up with Washington Health Care Authority (HCA), Managed Care Organizations (MCOs), and community healthcare providers regarding reentry care coordination activities.
- Maintain records of waiver-related services provided prior to release, including documentation required for program compliance and reporting.
- Prepare, review, and submit claims for Medicaid 1115 Reentry Waiver services in accordance with state requirements and contractual agreements with the facility.
- Ensure all required documentation supports accurate and compliant billing, including coordination with clinical and care coordination staff to resolve discrepancies and maintain audit readiness.
- Monitor program workflows to ensure required services are completed within established timelines prior to an individual’s release.
- Support communication and coordination between correctional healthcare staff and community healthcare providers to facilitate continuity of care.
- Aid in the preparation of documentation supporting program reporting, audits, and compliance monitoring.
- Track program participation metrics and assist with internal reporting related to waiver services.
- Ensure patient authorizations and consent documentation are obtained when required for information exchange.
- Identify operational barriers that may impact timely delivery of reentry services and escalate concerns to program leadership as appropriate.
- Stay informed on Washington Medicaid program updates and policies related to justice-involved populations and reentry services.
- Aid in additional administrative or coordination tasks related to the Medicaid Reentry program as assigned.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree in healthcare administration, social services, public health, or related field preferred.
- Additional certifications or specialized training may be required depending on the function (e.g., Certified Human Resources Professional (PHR) for HR roles, Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for Finance roles, etc.).
- Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant experience in the specific functional area (e.g., HR, Finance, Sales, Marketing, Operations, etc.).
- Experience in healthcare, correctional healthcare, or a regulated industry is preferred.
- Demonstrated success in applying function-specific skills (e.g., employee relations for HR, financial reporting for Finance, or sales strategy for Sales) is required.
- Knowledge of relevant industry-specific regulations, compliance standards, and best practices may be required, particularly for roles in highly regulated functions like HR and Finance.
- Relevant industry certifications based on the role (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, CPA, etc.).
- Active CPR/BLS certificate required (American Heart Association/American Red Cross guideline approved), if role is located in a correctional facility.
