Summary Of Position

The Medication Technician plays a crucial role in the care team, contributing to the well-being of residents in our community. The primary responsibility is to administer medications accurately and provide daily resident care as per the care plan.

Essential Job Functions

• Work under the supervision of a licensed nurse to assist and administer medications according to health care provider instructions.
• Document medication administration, effectiveness, and side effects accurately, in line with established policies and procedures.
• Report any adverse reactions or side effects to the supervisor or Director of Nursing.
• Perform personal care activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, skin care, nail care, oral hygiene, shaving, dressing, and others as directed.
• Assist in dining rooms and initiate participation in leisure activities.
• Monitor residents' health and emotional condition, promptly reporting any changes to the nurse.
• Respond promptly to resident requests for assistance and report significant events.
• Ensure residents' personal care needs are met and promote a safe environment through adherence to infection control, fire safety, and other safety practices.
• Prepare residents for appointments and assist with their care.
• Provide companionship, comfort, and support to residents.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

• Make independent decisions and follow instructions.
• Deal tactfully with various individuals including residents, family members, visitors, and staff.
• Work effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, and emotionally upset people within the facility.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, residents, and families.

Education And Experience

• Meet all applicable state and federal requirements for this position.
• Prioritize 6 months or more of experience in home care, assisted living, or long-term care facilities.

Supervisory Responsibility

This position does not have any direct reports or supervisory requirements.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

• Potential and direct exposure to blood, body fluids, infectious diseases, air contaminants, and hazardous chemicals.
• Physical activities involve lifting up to 75 pounds, standing for extended periods, bending, stooping, stretching, twisting, sitting, and reaching.
• Cognitive activities include executing tasks independently, expressing oneself clearly, concentrating on moderate details, and visual acuity.
• Environmental exposures include ambient room temperatures and lighting.
• Physical requirements include ability to lift, move, transfer residents, exert maximum muscle force, use abdominal and lower back muscles, stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, stretch, twist, sit, and reach.
