We are looking for Certified Medication Technicians (CMTs) to join our team at Morningside House of Ellicott City, a leading assisted living and memory care community in Ellicott City, MD.

Schedule

Full-time, overnight shift: 10 PM – 6 AM.

About the Role

Administer oral and topical medications to residents as ordered by a physician, under the supervision of a licensed nurse, and in accordance with state and federal rules and regulations. Perform routine daily tasks required in maintaining the health, comfort, and well-being of the residents.

Responsibilities

  • Administer medications as ordered by a physician under the supervision of a licensed nurse, in accordance with state and federal regulations and community policy
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the “five rights” of medication administration
  • Administer and record all medication given to residents based upon their specific chart
  • Take and record vital signs of residents as assigned or as required by certain medications
  • Record the administration of medications and/or treatments appropriately, utilizing the computer system to enter and reference resident information
  • Observe and report any reactions and/or side effects of medications to a licensed nurse immediately
  • Administer PRN medications in accordance with state and federal regulations and facility policy
  • Ensure antiseptic techniques, good hand washing practices, and universal precautions for infection control
  • Report and record any changes observed in condition or behavior of residents and unusual incidents
  • Submit incident/accident reports to supervisor or Administrator within twenty-four (24) hours after occurrence
  • Communicate with medical staff, nursing service, and other department supervisors
  • Supervise care staff in the absence of nurses
  • Maintain, clean, and organize the Medication Room
  • Maintain a liaison with other department supervisors to adequately plan for resident activities
  • Attend all required training, in-service, and staff meetings
  • Handle and be exposed to hazardous chemicals, infectious waste, diseases, conditions, including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B viruses
  • Maintain resident and staff confidentiality; treat staff and residents with kindness, dignity, and respect
  • Comply with Resident’s Rights rules

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree; or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certified Medication Technician (CMT) certification required
