Med Surg Nurse

About the Role

Provides comprehensive nursing care in a correctional health setting, focusing on individual patient needs and adhering to recognized standards of care.

Responsibilities

• Plan, deliver, document, and evaluate nursing care based on provider orders and patient condition.
• Supervise assigned nursing personnel and ensure quality care.
• Observe, assess, and report patients' conditions and responses to treatment.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation reflecting patient care and progress.
• Uphold the organization’s mission, values, and customer service standards.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program and current RN licensure in Ohio.
• Basic Life Support certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days.
• Strong knowledge of nursing theory, biological, physical, psychosocial, and medical sciences.
• Proficiency with nursing instruments, equipment, and medical asepsis principles.
• Ability to foster positive relationships with staff and medical teams.
• High physical coordination and dexterity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• Correctional health care experience.
• Specialty certifications such as CCN or CCHP.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to sit, stand, bend, and walk.
• Lift 250-300 pounds with assistance.
• Push/pull up to 500 pounds with assistance.
• Work in environments with potential exposure to communicable diseases, chemicals, and body fluids.
