Med Lab Tech or Med Lab Scientist

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Planning, performing, evaluating and reporting CLIA '88 waived, moderately complex and highly complex testing.
• Performing the day-to-day work of MLT/MLS, including pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical functions.
• Conducting quality control and quality assurance activities.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instruments.
• Monitoring supply inventory and establishing/preserving communication with healthcare providers, patients, and other hospital personnel.

Requirements

• Minimum of an associate's degree, bachelor's degree preferred with training to include the completion of a certified MLT/MLS program.
• MLT/MLS certification by ASCP, AMT, AABB or equivalent organization required.
• Minimum of 3 years Generalist experience in a hospital laboratory, including Blood Banking and phlebotomy preferred.
• Able to work independently.
• MA-P phlebotomy license required within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements

• May have to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
• Walking or standing to a significant degree.
• Requires reaching, handling, fingering and feeling, extending arms and hands.
• Subject to inside environmental conditions.
• Exposure to potentially infectious blood and body fluids, and hazardous chemicals in reagents; operation of moving mechanical equipment; the use of sharps for obtaining specimens; and other related tasks.

Pay

According to the Union Contract based on experience MLT wage range $33.90- $53.76 Medical laboratory Scientist wage range $38.31- $66.35, DOE, EOE

Schedule

Full Time Night Shift 3-12 hour shifts Friday-Sunday, with holidays, and call- Shift/days may change
