Medical Lab Tech or Medical Lab Scientist- FT

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Planning, performing, evaluating and reporting CLIA '88 waived, moderately complex and highly complex testing.
• Performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical functions.
• Performing the day-to-day work of MLT/MLS, including quality control and quality assurance.
• Maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory instruments.
• Monitoring supply inventory.
• Establishing and/or maintaining communications with healthcare providers, patients, and other hospital personnel.

Qualifications

• A minimum of an associate's degree, with a bachelor's degree preferred.
• Completion of a certified MLT/MLS program.
• ASCP, AMT, AABB or equivalent organization certification for MLT/MLS.
• At least 3 years of generalist experience in a hospital laboratory, including blood banking and phlebotomy (preferred).
• The ability to work independently.
• A Massachusetts-PHLEBOTOMY license required within 6 months of hire.

Physical Requirements

• Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds frequently, and/or negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
• Walking or standing to a significant degree.
• Reaching, handling, fingering and feeling, extending arms and hands.
