About the Role
The Medication Assistant (MA) provides resident-centered nursing care and assistance with daily living activities under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
- Administer prescribed medications as delegated and document care
- Monitor vital signs and gather specimens
- Support residents' psycho-social and recreational needs
- Perform housekeeping and laundry tasks to maintain a safe environment
- Participate in departmental initiatives and ongoing training
- Record care outcomes and communicate with charge nurses
- Assist with mobility and provide personal care
- Support dining, housekeeping, laundry, and recreational activities
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience is advantageous
- Certification requirements vary by state, including CNA and medication aide certifications
- Ongoing education and competency testing may be required
- Valid driver’s license and insurance may be needed
