About the Role
The Medication Assistant (MA) provides resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to seniors under supervision.
Responsibilities
- Assist with activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and vital sign recording.
- Provide psycho-social support to residents.
- Help with transferring, repositioning, and range of motion exercises.
- Support nutritional needs by assisting with meals and snacks.
- Administer prescribed medications within scope and document care activities.
- Communicate changes in residents’ conditions to the charge nurse.
- Collect non-invasive specimens.
- Support wellness and recreational programs.
- Assist with housekeeping and laundry to maintain a clean living environment.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred; minimum age 18.
- Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
- Completion of required competency testing and ongoing education credits annually.
- Certification requirements vary by state, including CNA and medication aide certifications.
- Ability to follow state-specific regulations and maintain required certifications.
Key Duties
- Provide basic personal and health care assistance.
- Administer medications as delegated and document care activities.
- Support residents' psychosocial and recreational needs.
- Assist with transfers, mobility, and exercises.
- Ensure a clean, safe, and supportive environment.
