Responsibilities
- Maintain facility maintenance support equipment and industrial mechanical systems.
- Monitor facilities to ensure a safe, clean, efficiently operating, and productive work environment.
- Assist Facilities Management with schedules and organizing any service work performed by technicians, vendors, and contractors.
- Perform maintenance repairs for basic plumbing, minor electrical, carpentry, HVAC systems, roofing, general landscaping, and other building support systems.
- Conduct regular building rounds and submit reports to Facilities Management to ensure assigned areas are clean and safe, and that maintenance crews are keeping systems and equipment in proper working order.
- Respond to internal customer inquiries and complaints.
- Ensure timely repairs with quality service, then follow up to confirm customer satisfaction.
- Support manufacturing and project activities by troubleshooting mechanical, process, and facility-related issues.
- Aid with plant layout, workstation setup, equipment placement, and material flow improvements to improve safety, productivity, and efficiency.
- Support time studies, workflow analysis, and process improvement initiatives to identify bottlenecks, reduce waste, and improve labor and equipment utilization.
- Aid in developing and maintaining standard work instructions, process documentation, preventive maintenance procedures, and training materials.
- Collect, analyze, and report data related to downtime, equipment performance, maintenance issues, production flow, space utilization, and process efficiency.
- Participate in continuous improvement projects, including Lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, root cause analysis, and corrective action activities.
- Work with production, engineering, maintenance, quality, and facilities teams to improve processes, reduce recurring problems, and support operational goals.
- Recommend improvements to tools, equipment, layouts, maintenance practices, and work processes to improve safety, quality, cost, and delivery performance.
- Aid with project planning, implementation, and follow-up for facility upgrades, equipment moves, process changes, and manufacturing support projects.
- Ensure work areas, tools, equipment, and facility systems comply with company safety standards, housekeeping expectations, and applicable regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree preferred in Engineering, Industrial Technology, Mechanical Technology, Industrial Engineering Technology, Facilities Maintenance, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field.
- Prior military experience a plus.
- 5-10 years of solid experience as an engineer, maintenance mechanic, facilities technician, industrial technician, or manufacturing support technician.
- Experience in a manufacturing, industrial, warehouse, or production environment required.
- Plumbing knowledge to assist in installation, address leaks, and perform basic repairs.
- Carpentry ability to handle basic repairs around the building.
- Basic knowledge of electrical, HVAC, mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and facility systems preferred.
- Familiarity with commercial and industrial mechanical systems.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, production flow, equipment layout, and material handling concepts.
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, 5S, continuous improvement, root cause analysis, or process improvement preferred.
- Ability to assist with time studies, workflow analysis, process documentation, and efficiency improvement projects.
- Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings, layouts, manuals, work instructions, and equipment documentation.
- Interpersonal skills to interact with employees, vendors, contractors, and visitors in a professional and pleasant manner.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure all jobs are completed properly and that potential hazards, inefficiencies, or warning signs of problems are not overlooked.
- Physically able to stand for long periods, lift as required, work around equipment, and perform hands-on maintenance tasks.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Able to work independently or with a team.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Experience with maintenance of diesel backup generator systems is a plus.
