About the role
The Plant Engineering department at Flint Hills Resources Pine Bend Refinery in Rosemount, MN is seeking a Mechanical Plant Engineer. This position offers a unique opportunity for growth and learning within the oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities
- Drive innovation and efficiency through our Principled Based Management culture.

- Gain understanding in oil flow, refinery units, and basic economics.
- Apply analytical and engineering skills to enhance EH&S and business operations.
- Recommend and implement equipment and process improvements to reduce risks, boost productivity, and lower costs.
- Provide technical support for equipment specifications and design reviews.
- Support and progressively lead Management of Change efforts with input from subject matter experts.
- Lead Root Cause Analysis and develop asset reliability strategies with guidance from senior engineers.
- Work with leaders and technicians to prevent recurring failures.
- Lead projects as scope and experience grow to enhance asset performance.
- Support operations and maintenance technicians' skill development.
- Provide technical support as required for Turnaround activities in assigned areas.
- Develop troubleshooting techniques of mechanical-related problems to determine appropriate repair scopes.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
- 2+ years of experience in reliability engineering or related role.
- 2+ years experience in a refining/petro-chemical/manufacturing facility.
Qualifications
- Deep operational understanding of a complex refinery environment.
- Practical, plant-based engineering experience early in your career.

Pay
$90,000 - $120,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, issued as a monetary bonus or in another form.
Schedule
The position offers a "9/80" schedule that provides every other Friday off.
