About the role

The Kentucky Department of Corrections (DOC), Division of Adult Institutions operates correctional facilities that house Kentucky's adult inmate population. The mission of DOC is to protect the citizens of the Commonwealth and to provide a safe, secure, and humane environment for staff and offenders while carrying out the mandates of the legislative and judicial processes. The Mechanical Maintenance and Operations Technician II acts as a lead worker in the maintenance and operation of associated systems and equipment at the institution.

Responsibilities

  • Inspects assigned area projecting maintenance needs in consultation with the appropriate department heads.
  • Performs all preventative maintenance for their assigned work area and coordinates work with other skilled trade areas (plumbers, electricians, etc.).
  • Inspects equipment and responsible for determining equipment needs and orders parts as needed.
  • Supervises the support teams that perform work within assigned area.
  • Prepares reports and ensures documentation as needed.

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Four years of experience in the maintenance or repair of HVAC, refrigeration, ventilation, or electrical systems.
  • Formal training in one of the above or related fields may substitute for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience in one of the above or related fields may substitute for the education on a year-for-year basis.
  • Must be 18 years of age.

Working Conditions

  • May be required to take care of emergency repairs twenty-four hours a day.

Pay

$51,426.00 annually.
