Mechanical Field Engineer (Spartanburg Data Center)
About the role
Your job includes designing, developing, evaluating, and preparing recommendations with basis of design (BOD), scope of work (SOW) documents, in addition to design, construction and specifications documents through the positional (programming) process with a team. You will also oversee engineering and construction for the facility mechanical systems work including HVAC, chilled water systems, technical coolant systems, fire protection, plumbing, process-piping and equipment. The work will include retrofits of existing building systems, as well as new systems.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing vendor submittal packages against client requirements and specifications
- Interacting with subcontractors and construction personnel
- Performing field inspections and audits to verify compliance with contract documents, construction drawings, industry standards, and safety regulations
- Reviewing and interpreting project specifications, drawings, RFI’s, and submittals to ensure adherence to quality requirements
- Tracking and documenting non-conformance reports (NCRs) and overseeing corrective actions to resolve quality issues
- Collaborating with contractors, subcontractors, and project teams to enforce quality standards and resolve issues
- Overseeing and inspecting construction activities to verify workmanship, alignment, and adherence to project requirements
- Supporting pre-installation meetings, punch lists, and final inspections to ensure project milestones are met
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited university
- At least 3 years of practical application of mechanical facilities design engineering, including HVAC, hydronics, process piping, exhaust, plumbing, and related mechanical facilities systems
- Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize, and leadership experience
- Solid knowledge and application of building codes and other related standards (ASHRAE, ASME, etc.)
- Solid knowledge in practice and procedures for specifications and selection of all types of mechanical equipment and components
- Proficient working knowledge of design software, such as AutoCAD, Revit and Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
- Passionate about buildings and construction
- Experience working on site or as a facility engineer
- Experience coordinating work packages with contractors/subcontractors
Qualifications
- EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) licensure
- Working knowledge of design-related deliverables, such as P&IDs, PFDs, Details, and Equipment Plans, etc.
- Experience with industry-standard HVAC load and energy modeling software such as Carrier HAP, Trane Trace 700, or Trane Trace 3D

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $69,500.00 to $121,500.00. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
Schedule
Position requires field visits and walks at an active client site in various stages of construction. Applicant must be able to walk long distances, sit and stand for extended periods, bend, stoop, twist, crawl, climb ladders, work on catwalks, work in small spaces, lift and carry up to 25lbs.

Location
This is an on-site position requiring work to be performed on the client site in Spartanburg, SC. If applicant is not located in the region, relocation assistance may be available.
Candidate Requirements
- Candidate will be required to be on site Monday-Friday during normal business hours – nominally 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
