About the role

This role is responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects. You will analyze project plans, specifications, and scope documents, perform material and labor takeoffs, and prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals. The position also involves project management, collaboration with vendors and subcontractors, participation in pre-bid meetings and site visits, and contributing to value engineering and cost-saving strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare correct and competitive estimates for commercial, industrial, and institutional projects
  • Analyze project plans, specifications, and scope documents
  • Perform material and labor takeoffs
  • Project management of assigned projects
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and bid proposals
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain accurate pricing
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and site visits as needed
  • Aid in value engineering and cost-saving strategies
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with honesty and integrity

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in estimating HVAC/hydronic systems
  • Experience with commercial Hydronic Systems and HVAC Systems
  • Strong understanding of hydronic design and installation practices
  • Design-Build experience required; Plan and Spec experience a plus
  • Strong understanding of mechanical system design and implementation
  • Knowledge of mechanical codes, standards, and construction practices
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Advanced customer service and relationship-building skills
  • Strong multi-tasking skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Flexibility and adaptability to change
  • Ability to work well with others and effectively with minimal supervision
  • Must pass a background check and have a valid driver’s license
  • Office work with site visits as needed

Qualifications

  • Past field experience in commercial HVAC service or construction (ideal)
  • Ability to think creatively to find custom solutions
  • Strong communication, organizational, and time management skills
