Mechanical Engineering Technician

Job Description

Reporting to the Sr. Lab Manager, the associate plans, performs and analyzes bench-level engineering tests and/or research experiments designed to test the feasibility of concepts or technologies required for development of new products. Assist, when relevant, in transfer of technologies into product development. Participates, when necessary, on product development core or project teams.

• Independently plans and performs experiments that support new product or technology feasibility testing.
• Critically analyzes data generated from experiments. Synthesizes resulting evaluations of product and technology feasibility, as well as ideas and concepts.
• Reports results of experiments to R&D management and peers. Advises of the product development implications arising from the results and when necessary, prepares technical reports.
• Maintains scientific equipment as necessary to support scientific and technical objectives as well as regulatory and governance requirements.
• Maintains good laboratory practices (GLP) consistent with SM product development objectives and regulatory guidelines.
• Interfaces with engineering to support experimental designs and performs testing of product produced experimentally as required.

Requirements

• 5 plus years’ experience, associates or BS in mechanical engineering, on site 5 days a week
