Mechanical Engineering Technician
Responsibilities
- Perform test setup and tear-down for vehicle and component testing in a development lab environment.
- Execute basic mechanical tests by following established procedures and standard operating instructions.
- Use hand tools and shop equipment to support daily testing activities and ensure accurate test execution.
- Assist with troubleshooting simple mechanical or equipment issues to minimize downtime and maintain test schedules.
- Support fabrication and modification of test setups, including cutting, drilling, assembly, and related tasks.
- Prepare, inspect, and maintain test equipment, fixtures, and lab areas to ensure readiness and reliability.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and safe while supporting general lab operations and housekeeping standards.
- Aid engineers and other technicians with day-to-day testing needs and special projects as required.
- Document work performed as needed to support test activities and maintain consistency with lab practices.
Essential Skills
- Hands-on mechanical experience, with an automotive background preferred.
- Basic experience using hand tools and shop equipment in a mechanical or automotive setting.
- Able to follow instructions and standard operating procedures accurately and consistently.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable, self-motivated, and willing to learn in a fast-paced testing environment.
- Basic troubleshooting skills for simple mechanical or equipment issues.
- General understanding of troubleshooting, engines, and electrical systems related to automotive or mechanical testing.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
- Automotive or vehicle testing experience in a lab or field environment.
- Exposure to lab or test environments, particularly those involving component and system testing.
- Welding or fabrication experience, including cutting, drilling, and assembly (nice to have but not required).
- Associate degree or technical training in automotive technology, mechanical technology, or a related field (helpful but not required).
Work Environment
- Work in an automotive test lab that supports suspension, pedal, tire, and impact testing.
- Environment includes exposure to servo-hydraulic test equipment and multiple test rigs used for vehicle and component evaluations.
- The lab operates in a fast-paced development setting, with periods of increased testing activity during peak project phases.
- Regularly work around mechanical equipment, test rigs, and shop tools in a structured lab environment.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract position based out of Raymond, OH.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr.
