Job Responsibilities
- Assembling and fabricating mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic hardware, test facilities, and prototypes
- Setting up and conducting experiments
- Troubleshooting components, facilities, and experiments
- Recording data, data reduction, and creating/maintaining project documentation
Professional Requirements
- An Engineering Technology degree and five years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated and broad experience in traditional fabrication including manual machining skills (lathes/mills/grinders), welding, prototyping, plumbing, hydraulics, wiring, and assembly
- Selecting, installing, and maintaining instrumentation
- Interpreting, modifying, and creating CAD models
- Understanding and applying engineering fundamentals
Qualifications
- An intuitive understanding of mechanical systems
- The ability to multi-task and appropriately prioritize competing demands
- Organization
- Computer proficiency
- Strong record-keeping
- Written/verbal communication skills
- The ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
