Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking a strong, experienced Mechanical Engineer (AEC/MEP) with leadership capability to lead our combined Baltimore and Washington, DC area Mechanical Engineering Departments and support the function enterprise-wide. As a leader in innovative designs for building systems, Bala works on High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse, and Life Science facilities.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert, resolving issues and answering questions from engineering staff.
- Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to follow.
- Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
- Check and confirm the accuracy of work performed and methods used by engineering staff.
- Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors.
- Prepare and deliver engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally.
- Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in mechanical design (MEP).
- Team supervisory experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and PE license required.
- Skilled technical writer.
- Expert knowledge of building codes.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment, working individually or as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs.
- Strong software skills including Revit.

Schedule
