Bala Consulting Engineers is seeking a strong, experienced Mechanical Engineer (AEC/MEP) with leadership capability to lead our combined Baltimore and Washington, DC area Mechanical Engineering Departments and support the function enterprise-wide. As a leader in innovative designs for building systems, Bala works on High Rise, Mission Critical, Multi-Unit Housing, Commercial Office, Higher Education, Transportation, Adaptive Reuse, and Life Science facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an engineering leader and technical expert, resolving issues and answering questions from engineering staff.
  • Create detailed engineering plans, processes, and procedures for engineering staff to follow.
  • Propose and oversee budgets and timelines for engineering projects.
  • Check and confirm the accuracy of work performed and methods used by engineering staff.
  • Communicate and collaborate with other managers, suppliers, and contractors.
  • Prepare and deliver engineering-related presentations, both internally and externally.
  • Perform department management activities including recruitment, hiring, coaching, and leadership.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in mechanical design (MEP).
  • Team supervisory experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering and PE license required.
  • Skilled technical writer.
  • Expert knowledge of building codes.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to multitask and thrive in a timeline-driven environment, working individually or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of Sustainable certification programs.
  • Strong software skills including Revit.

Schedule
