Mechanical Engineer, PE
About the role
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC and Plumbing design experience to support our office located in Atlanta, GA, Chicago, IL or Washington D.C. (Chantilly, VA).
Responsibilities
- Utilizes technical expertise or oversees a specific area within established practices and guidelines.
- Provides Design, Quality Assurance for ongoing construction projects in the HVAC and Plumbing vertical design space.
- Reviews contractor submittals.
- Prepares responses to Requests for Information (RFI).
- Evaluates proposed submittal substitutions; makes recommendations to OBO/PD.
- Collaborates in the development of Independent Government Estimates (IGEs) for modifications and change orders.
- Reviews and evaluates design calculations and data.
- Prepares Monthly Progress Report summarizing project status.
- Travels onsite to project fields for client meetings and site inspections and visits: ~25% requirement.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in architecture from an accredited university.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License is required.
- Autodesk Revit proficiency is required.
- Load Calculation and Energy Modeling experience using Trace 3D plus or other Energy Plus based software is required.
- Vertical building design experience required.
- The ability to travel internationally.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance.
Qualifications
- 7-10 years HVAC design experience.
- Supervisory experience is a plus.
- HVAC and Plumbing Experience.
- Knowledge of Commissioning.
- Optional Experience with facilities for clients in the Federal Government sector.
Skills
Autodesk Revit proficiency, Load Calculation and Energy Modeling experience using Trace 3D plus or other Energy Plus based software, Vertical building design experience, Ability to travel internationally, Security clearance.

Pay
This full-time position as a Mechanical Engineer, level III has an annual base range of $119,800-$142,900. This position is eligible for overtime in accordance with local, state, and federal requirements. The actual hourly rate is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location.
Schedule
Full-time position with variable schedule to accommodate project needs.
