About the role

Become a Mechanical Engineer Consultant with the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA) and play a key role in designing and improving essential facility systems.

Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Design: Develop mechanical design solutions that support renovations, new construction, and system upgrades
  • HVAC Guidance: Create and update HVAC guidelines, operation and maintenance plans, and building commissioning procedures
  • Technical Review: Evaluate drawings, specifications, and calculations to ensure compliance with standards and codes
  • Energy Coordination: Support energy management initiatives and contribute to the DMVA energy team
  • Systems Oversight: Provide expertise on building management systems and recommend improvements to facility performance
  • Project Support: Assist with cost estimates, schedules, assessments, and construction coordination for mechanical projects

Qualifications

  • Minimum Experience and Training Requirements: Two years as a Mechanical Engineer 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or Four years of professional mechanical engineering experience which required work on any structural mechanical system.
  • Special Requirements: You must be in possession of a Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists. You must be in possession of a valid driver’s license.
  • Other Requirements: This particular position also requires two years or more of experience using AutoCAD, REVIT, or similar Computer Aided Drafting software. This particular position also requires: Three years or more of professional experience in designing (e.g., calculations, drawings, and specifications) hydronic piping heating/cooling systems (e.g., boilers, chillers, circulating pumps, valves, radiators, fan coil units, radiant floor tubing systems, or duct distribution systems similar to variable air volume (VAV) systems or constant volume systems); or Three years or more of professional experience in designing (e.g., calculations, drawings, and specifications) plumbing systems (e.g., interior/exterior potable water supply systems, restroom facilities, oil-water separators, kitchen equipment, facility water filtration systems, or interior/exterior sanitary sewer systems).

  • You must possess a valid federal or state-issued photo ID and pass a favorable NCIC screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
