Mid-Level Mechanical Engineering Consultant

Overview

Sargent & Lundy Consulting (SLC) supports electric power projects by evaluating and optimizing various aspects including technical, commercial, environmental, and financial. This role involves providing development support, conceptual design, and owner's engineer services to clients.

Responsibilities

• Provide development support, conceptual design, and owner’s engineer services to clients including technical evaluations of electric power generation projects and facilities.
• Support project economic and cost analysis, risk assessments, and contract development.
• Engage in engineering design reviews, technical due diligence, project development support, and conceptual design.
• Particularly valuable for experience in mechanical design of thermal power projects.
• Travel within the United States and internationally as needed.

Qualifications

• A BSME from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program with a strong academic background.
• 5 or more years of experience in the electric power industry, including detailed design of the mechanical systems of thermal power projects.
• Excellent technical communication and writing skills.
• Potential for experience in technical due diligence and owner’s engineering design reviews of thermal power projects.
• General understanding of power station operations and performance reviews.
• General understanding of process design at electric power generation facilities.
• Economic, cost analysis, and contract development experience.
• A familiarity with international design codes and standards.

Skills

• Willingness or ability to lead others in using modern tools like automation and AI to improve workflows.
• Experience leading automation and process-improvement work, such as automating calculations, summarizing technical documents, or generating design documentation.
• Minor, certificate, or experience in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or related fields.

Pay

The total compensation package for eligible positions includes a base salary or hourly rate and a comprehensive benefits package, reflecting our commitment to rewarding performance and supporting the overall well-being of our employees. The range for this position is $84,762 - $129,498.

Schedule

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement. You'll spend three days a week in the office, giving you the flexibility to work remotely for two days.
