About the role

Murphy Company is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Designer to work in a Design-Build and Design-Assist environment in the St. Louis, MO office. This position works closely with the sales, estimating, and construction groups in addition to the primary engineering design duties.

Responsibilities

  • Capable of researching, reviewing, and developing design criteria for variety of facilities
  • Interact with building owners, property management, architects, and members of construction team
  • Excellent organizational, technical, communication (both written and verbal), and documentation skills and be capable of working in a team environment
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems
  • Able to professionally present technical issues to clients, receive feedback, and collaboratively develop solutions
  • Assist Estimating and Pre-Construction groups to provide construction proposals
  • Define system requirements and equipment selections for design-build work
  • Comeptent in various industry calculation and simulation programs (Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP)
  • Generate plans and coordinate with other trades
  • Ensure designs meet all applicable codes and safety standards
  • Mechanical Design assignments including HVAC (air and waterside), Medical/Lab Gasses, and Process System layout and sizing
  • Prepare and approve shop drawing submittals from vendors
  • Develop and maintain CAD/BIM standards and details

Requirements

  • 2+ years' experience or equivalent in facilities design, in markets such as healthcare, higher education, or commercial
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes
  • Competent in REVIT & AutoCAD
  • Desire and Interest to support the built environment
  • Self-starter who works well with others and likes being challenged

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
  • EIT is a plus
  • Construction experience a plus

Skills

  • Ability to research and develop design criteria
