About the role
Murphy Company is currently seeking a Mechanical Engineer or Designer to work in a Design-Build and Design-Assist environment in the St. Louis, MO office. This position works closely with the sales, estimating, and construction groups in addition to the primary engineering design duties.
Responsibilities
- Capable of researching, reviewing, and developing design criteria for variety of facilities
- Interact with building owners, property management, architects, and members of construction team
- Excellent organizational, technical, communication (both written and verbal), and documentation skills and be capable of working in a team environment
- Basic knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems
- Able to professionally present technical issues to clients, receive feedback, and collaboratively develop solutions
- Assist Estimating and Pre-Construction groups to provide construction proposals
- Define system requirements and equipment selections for design-build work
- Comeptent in various industry calculation and simulation programs (Trane Trace 700 or Carrier HAP)
- Generate plans and coordinate with other trades
- Ensure designs meet all applicable codes and safety standards
- Mechanical Design assignments including HVAC (air and waterside), Medical/Lab Gasses, and Process System layout and sizing
- Prepare and approve shop drawing submittals from vendors
- Develop and maintain CAD/BIM standards and details
Requirements
- 2+ years' experience or equivalent in facilities design, in markets such as healthcare, higher education, or commercial
- Thorough knowledge of building codes
- Competent in REVIT & AutoCAD
- Desire and Interest to support the built environment
- Self-starter who works well with others and likes being challenged
Qualifications
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent technical degree
- EIT is a plus
- Construction experience a plus
Skills
- Ability to research and develop design criteria
