Mechanical Engineer

Responsibilities

  • Aid in leading, designing, building, and troubleshooting plant expansion activities
  • Support large scale heating and cooling systems
  • Assist with high vacuum systems
  • Provide expertise for filtration systems
  • Help develop helium leak detection equipment
  • Contribute to composite parts and assemblies
  • Maintain machined parts and assemblies
  • Participate in design and analysis of structural and dynamic systems
  • Design manufacturing equipment as needed for production
  • Create, review, and approve engineering packages for fabrication
  • Establish procedures for assembly and repair of fabricated components
  • Drive process improvement initiatives for both internal and external suppliers
  • Manage multiple priorities and ensure timely delivery of projects within budget
  • Comply with company policies and procedures regarding safety, ethics, security, and environmental programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including design, engineering, manufacturing, operations, testing, quality, and purchasing

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Nuclear, or Aerospace Engineering
  • 3–5 years of relevant professional experience
  • Possession of an active DOE Q-level or DOD TS security clearance preferred
  • Experience with project management
  • Experience with lean manufacturing
  • Master’s degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering preferred
  • Experience with parametric 3D modeling tools such as CREO or SolidWorks
  • Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)
  • Experience with QL-1 or QL-2 quality parts/systems

Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of mechanical principles and engineering practices
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
