About the role
This isn't just a job, it's a chance to lead innovation, engineer impact, and build a legacy of excellence. HDR is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our Building Engineering Services team in either Charlotte or Raleigh.
Responsibilities
- Cook up the work of the mechanical design team through the schematic design development and contract document phase of a project
- Set up meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Divvy up the workload to get the document done on time
- Hold work sessions at the project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
- Check out mechanical documents for spots of conflict with all disciplines
- Write and polish mechanical specifications, pick equipment, mechanical systems and devices
- Collaborate with and assist affected disciplines with addenda, RFIs, CPRs and change orders, and take charge of incorporating agreed-upon changes into the project documents
- Watch over construction contract administration as needed
- Inspect the work of other Mechanical Project Engineers, Mechanical Project Coordinators or Mechanical CAD Technicians as needed
- Do other duties as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Previous experience in mechanical system design of commercial or institutional buildings
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license
- Computer experience using MS Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, manufacturer selection software
- Experience in commercial or institutional facilities
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm

Pay
Salary range: $85,000 - $120,000 annually
