Mechanical Engineer

Key Responsibilities

  • Create and analyze designs, run simulations, and test how the equipment functions post-repairs and system manipulation, and interact with connected systems.
  • Analyze, diagnose, and recommend solutions for mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic failures on equipment.
  • Monitor, diagnose, troubleshoot, and perform timely repairs on various mechanical equipment within the facility, including but not limited to, conveyor systems, sensors, safety guards, elevators, and/or catwalks.
  • Interpret work orders and specifications to determine if machines and equipment need replacement, repair, or general maintenance as needed.
  • Carry out routine inspections of equipment and systems following established standard operating procedures and checklists to ensure optimal performance.
  • Review instructions and interpret blueprints to ensure that project plans follow test specifications and procedures and meet objectives.
  • Research, produce, and assemble mechanical parts for production machinery and equipment.
  • Investigate, recognize, diagnose equipment failures to identify faulty operation, and recommend remedies to determine corrective action by interpreting complex blueprints, piping, sketches, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Design/Redesign, Assemble/Disassemble, Install/Transport industrial mechanical equipment using analysis, prototypes, and computer-aided design.
  • Follow and adhere to food and workplace safety policies and procedures established by Butterball, LLC.
  • Communicate, at a high level, with plant operations to ensure the machinery and equipment operate safely and efficiently.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Mechatronics or closely related field.
  • Understand and troubleshoot control voltage and line voltage.
  • Understanding and utilizing industry electrical prints.
  • Effective PLC maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Understands Vacuum theory.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Follow diagrams, operation manuals and manufacturing instructions.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot malfunctions in a timely manner and find resolution.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screen.
  • Must be able to read and write.
  • Need to be familiar in SPC, HACCP, GMP’S SSOP’S and USDA.
  • Computer skills with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Ability to read technical documents and communicate in English.

Physical Demands

  • Constant standing and walking (8 hours or more per day).
  • Lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling (up to and including 50lbs or more).
  • Reaching overhead.
  • Working from a ladder of raised platform.
  • Reaching below knees.
  • Able to reasonably multitask.
  • Working with electricity, tools, and wiring.
  • Completing required paperwork in timely manner.
  • Using material handling equipment as needed.
  • Working in tight spaces to complete work.

Work Environment

  • Damp and cold environment as needed.
  • Loud and noisy machinery as needed.
  • Dusty environment when using spice as needed.
  • Work with raw meat as needed.
  • Work in congested areas as needed.
