This role focuses on mechanical drafting, CNC programming and nesting, and supporting engineering projects, processes, budgets, and timelines to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule.
Responsibilities
- Serve as an engineering design and technical expert for engineering, sales, and production teams, as well as internal and external customers.
- Work directly with the Engineering Manager and Engineering Draft Team to answer questions and resolve issues raised by engineering team members, sales, and operations.
- Check and confirm the accuracy and completeness of work performed by the engineering draft team.
- Develop detailed part drawings from structural drawings and prepare part drawings for nesting.
- Use nesting software to prepare and review part nests before sending them to the post-processor, then review and post nests for fabrication.
- Assist with research and development initiatives to identify opportunities for new projects and process improvements.
- Communicate and collaborate with the engineering team and production staff to ensure current projects follow the correct process flow and remain on schedule.
- Support fabrication by helping to quickly resolve production priorities and issues.
- Learn and perform additional tasks as needed to support drafting, mechanical design, and related engineering activities.
- Maintain accurate documentation and files for drawings, nests, and related project information.
- Apply analytical and mathematical skills to evaluate designs, troubleshoot problems, and improve processes.
- Contribute actively as a strong team player in a timeline-driven environment.
Skills
- Mechanical drafting experience with a strong focus on accuracy and detail.
- Mechanical design experience, including the ability to interpret structural drawings and convert them into detailed part drawings.
- Proficiency in SolidWorks for 3D modeling and mechanical design.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD with the ability to pull out features and develop and manipulate parts.
- Experience preparing part drawings for nesting and using nesting software to create and review nests for fabrication.
- Ability to review newly created parts and ensure they are properly prepared for the nesting operation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Quick learning ability with a strong drive to learn new tools, processes, and technologies.
- Self-motivated attitude with the ability to multitask and perform effectively in a timeline-driven environment.
- Strong sense of urgency and goal-driven mindset.
- Analytical and mathematical mindset, with the ability to evaluate designs and solve problems.

Qualifications
- Certification in SolidWorks or other 3D modeling software.
Schedule
This is a contract position based in Wilkesboro, NC, with a fully onsite workplace type.
Position is anticipated to close on Aug 6, 2026.
Pay
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
