Responsibilities

  • Communicate with clients and deliver completed construction documents for most project types.
  • Assist in construction administration as required for most project types.
  • Independently develop, implement, and draft construction documents for most project and/or project type (or at least major portions).
  • Solve medium to difficult design challenges that arise on a project or simple projects.
  • Apply knowledge gained through experience and recognized national standards to simple projects, with minimal oversight.
  • Utilize software such as Trane Trace throughout the design process.
  • Design and draft domestic water, sewer, and natural gas piping systems, including riser diagrams, for small to medium projects.
  • Be proficient in AutoCAD and/or REVIT.
  • Train new employees on company standards, drafting techniques, and answer technical design questions on simple projects for HVAC and plumbing.
  • Work collaboratively with Architects and other Engineers to develop construction documents based on client requirements.
  • Provide high-quality control on all projects and possibly others for final review by the Mechanical Engineer or Mechanical Design Lead.
  • Have direct client contact in some cases.
  • Work within established budgets and be responsible for financial success of projects.
  • Select and design HVAC systems and equipment, controls, and provide energy calculations with minimal supervision on simple systems.
  • Edit specifications for small to medium size projects.

  • Management Requirements: 0-3 staff
  • Education Requirements: BSME or equivalent experience
  • Licensure Requirements: None required
