About the role

In the role of Mechanical Designer/EIT, we'll count on you to:

  • Cook up mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
  • Handle routine mechanical engineering assignments
  • Write and edit mechanical specifications
  • Select mechanical systems and devices
  • Use engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis, and size/select mechanical equipment
  • Make construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications, and reports
  • Create BIM documentation, using necessary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
  • Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians
  • Coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
  • Handle construction contract administration, including shop drawing review, RFI review, field inspections, and conflict resolution
  • Perform other duties as needed

Responsibilities

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
  • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
  • Healthcare, Science and Technology, and/or Civic facilities experience
  • Revit experience is required
  • Previous HVAC experience
  • Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED (not required)
  • Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
  • Strong communication skills
  • Self-motivated, organized, attention to accuracy, detail oriented, flexible, and able to work both independently and with a project team to complete tasks
  • Teachable and willing to be mentored by senior-level mechanical engineers

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
  • Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
